Description of Your Work

We look for an Assistant Professor who wants to contribute to advance science, teaching and practice at the interface of analytics and business or operations and business. By focusing the research and applications of analytics and operations you will be at the leading edge of current transformation of business via these disciplines. You will work at this interface by bringing in analytics as well as operations knowledge and connecting this to the work our Business Information and Decision Systems Track (Department). We are looking for analytics/AI and operations Ph.D.'s with a broad, interdisciplinary interest in data analytics and operations interactions to impact business transformation.

Your work as an Assistant Professor includes teaching courses in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) at the OSB, AUB while also developing your own research program, as well as some administrative and organizational tasks to support our education and research work. In this position, we expect you to spend approximately 40% of your time on research, 40% on teaching, and 20% on administrative and organizational tasks. Your career development will be shaped within the framework of AUB's promotion and tenure guidelines.

Your Duties

You will teach potentially in BBA and MBA, MSBA programs, including capstone supervision for graduate students, and also:

• contribute to administrative and coordination tasks at department and university level
• ensure a high-quality publication output
• initiate and contribute to collaborative projects

Your Profile

• You hold a PhD in data analytics or management science or a strongly related field
• You have a strong research interest and show the potential to develop a strong academic track record
• It is an advantage if you are committed to academic teaching in above-related topics before joining, especially for business analytics
• It is an advantage if you have additional research and teaching experience since your PhD (or in addition to your PhD research)
• You have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and generating societal impact through applied research, and have ideas on how to do this

On a full-time basis remuneration for the assistant professor level, the salary will be commensurate with your qualifications and it will be competitive with comparable institutions—AUB and our degree programs are consistently ranked among the highest by QS in the region and internationally.

This is a tenure track position; the initial appointment is normally for a period of 4 years, renewable for another 4 years, subject to a pre-tenure review.

Also, in your first year, usually you are given only 2 regular courses to teach, usual load is 4 courses which starts in the second year. This is a very generous offer granted at the discretion of the Dean to new research-active faculty and is meant to incentivize publication research output.
