Senior project manager – life sciences (analytical outsourcing)

Location: Lebanon, NJ

Pace® Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Analytical Outsourcing team in our Lebanon, New Jersey lab. In this client-facing role, you’ll lead complex, multi-site projects for some of our largest and most strategic accounts. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service, clear communication, and seamless execution from project kickoff through final deliverables.

This is a high-impact position that collaborates with laboratory operations, quality, sales, and leadership teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with industry standards.

You’ll take ownership of end-to-end project management, including:

Project leadership & execution

  • Lead complex and multi-site projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate updates internally and externally.
  • Ensure all project milestones and deliverables meet quality and regulatory expectations.

Client relationship management

  • Serve as the primary client contact for updates, issues, deliverables, and scope changes.
  • Host client meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Support on-site client visits and partner with sales on business review meetings.
  • Manage strategic account health, escalate concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work closely with laboratory teams to support sample management and testing execution.
  • Update LIMS with project status, costs, and client information.
  • Partner with QA and subject matter experts to support investigations, CAPAs, and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate with quoting teams on scope changes and new work requests.

Leadership & continuous improvement

  • Mentor project managers and project coordinators.
  • Provide project forecasts and financial updates to site leadership and sales.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.

Education & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, business, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • PMP certification or MBA.
  • 7+ years of project management or technical program experience, ideally in an analytical testing or laboratory environment.
  • 2+ years of mentorship or supervisory experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Advanced understanding of project management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of analytical testing methodologies and instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry standards and regulatory frameworks (ISO, GLP).
  • Ability to use discretion, tact, and sound judgment.
  • Some limited travel will be required with this role.
